Our Commitment

Being here comes with a responsibility.

To care for this environment with intention, respect and consistency.

Playa Mizata · Pacific coast, El Salvador

Mizata exists within one of El Salvador’s most extraordinary coastal environments. The ocean, the land, the wildlife and the community around us are all part of what makes this place what it is.

Our environmental journey is an ongoing one. We continue to learn, improve our practices and make better decisions across our operations. Some changes happen quickly. Others take time. What matters to us is moving forward with transparency, discipline and measurable action.

These are the commitments guiding the way we operate today and the Mizata we are working to build for tomorrow.

I Our Actions Ten commitments
01

Operate responsibly and transparently

We are committed to understanding and complying with the environmental and tourism regulations that apply to our operations. When we identify areas where we can improve, we document them, create realistic plans and take action.

Transparency is part of how we hold ourselves accountable.

02
Well water · shared with the community

Protect our water

Water is one of the most valuable resources we share with the community around us.

We monitor the quality of the water from our wells, work to prevent unnecessary waste, educate our team and guests on responsible use, and continuously look for ways to reduce water consumption per guest night.

03

Use energy with intention

We continuously review how energy is used across our operations, from air conditioning and kitchens to laundry and lighting.

Our focus is simple: consume only what we need, improve efficiency wherever possible and progressively explore more efficient technologies and renewable energy sources as conditions allow.

04

Manage waste and wastewater responsibly

We separate waste at the source and look for opportunities to recover, reuse or properly manage materials whenever possible.

Wastewater and grease generated by our operations are handled exclusively through authorized service providers.

05

Care for the beach and its wildlife

The coastline is part of our home, and protecting it is part of our responsibility.

Our Home

We work to prevent activities that may damage the beach and surrounding ecosystems, while helping protect sea turtles, birds and native vegetation.

We also encourage our guests, team members, collaborators and suppliers to treat this environment with the same respect.

06

Choose better products

The choices behind the scenes matter too. Whenever possible, we prioritize cleaning products, amenities, gardening materials and maintenance supplies that are biodegradable or have a lower environmental impact.

As better alternatives become available and operationally viable, we continue replacing higher-impact products.

The Mizata team · everyday practice

Give our team the tools to care

Environmental responsibility starts with the people who bring Mizata to life every day.

We continuously train our team in environmental best practices, responsible chemical handling, resource conservation and emergency response.

We believe lasting environmental habits are built through education, consistency and listening.

09
Playa Mizata · the community around us

Listen to our community

Mizata is part of a larger community and ecosystem.

We maintain open and respectful communication with our community, suppliers and relevant authorities, and we see feedback, concerns and suggestions as opportunities to learn and improve.

08
Continuous improvement

Sustainability is a practice, not a finish line.

We measure our progress through evolving indicators, review our performance with transparency and set goals that are ambitious enough to move us forward while remaining achievable with the resources available to us.

We believe in progress we can sustain over promises we cannot.

10

Build an environmental culture that lasts

Our long-term ambition is for environmental care to become a natural part of how we work, how we welcome our guests and how we experience this land.

Policies matter, but lasting change comes from everyday decisions.

We are committed to making those decisions with greater awareness, discipline and care, one step at a time.

This is an ongoing commitment.

Our Environmental Policy applies to our team, contractors, suppliers and visitors and is reviewed at least once a year to make sure it continues to reflect both our responsibilities and the reality of our operations.

We know this is a long journey, and we are still building many of the practices that will shape our environmental future.

Our promise is to keep moving forward: learning, measuring, improving and caring for this place along the way.
